Recommendations:: Collagen? How to increase it? Supplementation? Diet?

Magnesium deficiencies are common in the western diet because grains are poor sources of magnesium. ... Supplementation of magnesium is not very effective at reducing fat mass or cramps. ... The one study to measure muscle oxygenation in high intensity exercise noted quite a remarkable increase in oxygenation in healthy athletes; this needs to ... Oral collagen supplements also increase skin elasticity, hydration, and dermal collagen density. Collagen supplementation is generally safe with no reported adverse events. Further studies are needed to elucidate medical use in skin barrier diseases such as atopic dermatitis and to determine optimal dosing regimens. Diet supplementation with Toxo-MX reversed the reduction of growth performance and feed efficiency (P < 0.05). The 42-day-old broilers fed AFB 1 contaminated diet have no significant difference in BW (P > 0.05), however, an increased ADFI and F:G ratio has been showed (P < 0.05). In addition to eating foods that are rich in iron, you may have to take oral iron supplements. There are many different types of oral iron supplements, including pills, capsules, drops, and extended-release tablets. The purpose of oral iron supplementation is to treat your symptoms by increasing the levels of iron and hemoglobin in your body. A dietary supplement is a manufactured product intended to supplement one's diet by taking a pill, capsule, tablet, powder, or liquid. A supplement can provide nutrients either extracted from food sources or that are synthetic in order to increase the quantity of their consumption. The class of nutrient compounds includes vitamins, minerals, fiber, fatty acids, and amino acids. Supplementation protocols. In a normal diet that contains 1–2 g/day of creatine, muscle creatine stores are about 60–80% saturated. Therefore, dietary supplementation of creatine serves to increase muscle creatine and PCr by 20–40% (see Fig. 4.) [7, 8, 10, 46–48]. People can boost testosterone naturally through diet and exercise, or in some cases, through supplementation. However, there is no evidence to prove that testosterone therapy raises testosterone ... Add salt to your diet. Daily need: Most people on a low-carb diet will likely feel best with 3–7 grams of sodium (7–17 grams of salt, or about 1-3 teaspoons) per day. 16 17. However, if you have certain medical conditions — such as hypertension, kidney disease, or congestive heart failure — you may need to be more cautious about sodium. The amount of increase in muscle storage depends on the levels of creatine in the muscle prior to supplementation. Those who have lower muscle creatine stores, such as those who eat little meat or fish, are more likely to experience muscle storage increases of 20–40%, whereas those with relatively high muscle stores may only increase stores ... However, as the duration, frequency, and volume of resistance training increase, protein supplementation may promote muscle hypertrophy and enhance gains in muscle strength in both untrained and trained individuals. Evidence also suggests that protein supplementation may accelerate gains in both aerobic and anaerobic power.

Basically what the title says.
There’s so much mixed info out there as to whether supplemental collagen does anything. Looking for solid recommendations as in brands. Primary interest is for skin.

2022.01.25 18:02 Marshmallow09er Borrasca- My favorite audio drama

I haven’t seen a ton of discourse on Borrasca, so I thought I’d leave a review and possibly get a conversation going for anyone else who is a fan!
Borrasca is based on a NoSleep story of the same name, written by u/the_dalek_emperor (also known as CK Walker or Rebecca Klingel, who now writes for the TV show The Haunting of Hill House/Bly Manor). She’s one of the most popular writers on NoSleep, and Borrasca is one of the most famous stories. I’m admittedly a bit biased when it comes to writing this review, as Borrasca has been one of my most favorite pieces of short fiction long before the podcast came out. However, this also means that I had incredibly high expectations for the podcast.
And I have to say, the podcast lived up to and even exceeded my expectations. If you haven’t listened yet- let me do a spoiler free review- it’s an incredible horror story with brilliant writing and acting, and I recommend reading it or listening to it before reading this. TW for violence and sexual assault.
Spoilers below!!!
First of all, the quality was so incredible. I’ve heard that QCode is notorious for having excellent quality audio dramas, (as well as being notorious for not creating second seasons, but more on that later), but damn. It was completely immersive.
The voice acting was phenomenal all around. The most important part for me was that they nail the casting of the trio (Sam, Kyle and Kimber) both young and old, and they absolutely did. The young versions of the trio were spot on, and I think Lulu Wilson as Young Kimber was particularly wonderful and a real stand out. I found it interesting that Lulu Wilson also starred in Sharp Objects, another one of my favorite disturbing small town mysteries stories.
Some standout performances before I get to the teenage versions of the trio include:
Mark Derwin as Graham Walker. Oh man, he was good. One minute he was the ultimate dad; warm and caring, and the next minute he was absolutely terrifying. Blew me away.
Lisa Edelstein as Leah Dixon. She just oozed warmth and kindness. I can see how she’s the one who finally got Sam to open up.
Sean Maguire as Jimmy Prescott. I wanted to punch him in the face every time he spoke, so he was doing something right.
Beau Knapp as Erik Tucker and Cara Santana as Meera Daley. I don’t have a big explanation as for why I like them, I just liked their voices and the way they portrayed their roles.
Onto the trio! They were all fantastic and had chemistry that you could feel without ever needing to see them.
Daniel Webber was excellent as teenage Kyle. At first I was a bit thrown off by how deep his voice was, but once I got used to it I loved his performance.
I’ll admit when I heard Cole Sprouse was going to be playing Sam Walker I was a bit apprehensive, as I still think of him as Cody Martin and Jughead, but my fears were completely unfounded. He absolutely captured the defeat and hopelessness of adult Sam, but he really shone as teenage Sam. I wouldn’t change a thing about his performance. It was truly inspired, and he gave raw emotion to some really difficult scenes. Cole gave my second favorite performance in the entire podcast, beat only by…
Sarah Yarkin as teen Kimber Destaro! Kimber is the heart of Borrasca, and Sarah was absolutely up to the task of portraying her. She made you effortlessly love and care about Kimber. She embodied her perfectly, and when Kimber goes missing, the stakes are high for the audience as well because Kimber has won you over. She just completely nailed the essence of the character and is a delight to listen to. Sarah Yarkin has such an expressive voice and I hope she does more audio drama work.
So now that I’ve gone into great and unnecessary detail about the performances, let’s talk about the podcast itself. Borrasca is one of the longer No Sleep stories with 4 lengthy chapters, but things had to be expanded, added and changed in order to fill nine 40-minute episodes.
One change I really liked was the framing device. Having adult Sam tell his story to his PO worked really well from a narrative standpoint and it also made sense in helping the story transition smoothly between a written medium to an audio medium.
I also loved the addition of the Borrasca parties. It fit in so nicely that it wasn’t until I went back to reread Borrasca that I realized they weren’t included in the original stories, which is saying something when you consider how often I’ve read Borrasca.
The addition of the Woman in White was cool, and was a clever way to show how Jimmy and Friends knew if a girl was fertile. That and the Mile Markers (also cool and so creepy) made it extra exciting for listeners who have already read the story to be able to have new mysteries and twists.
Overall, I really liked the things they added and changed, and I didn’t think it felt like they were just stretching the story for the sake of doing it. The only times it felt like that at all was when there were a few conversations that happened more than once in a very similar fashion, for example Kyle and Sam arguing about his dad, Sam and his dad arguing about Whitney, and Erik and Sam discussing his nightmares. As a whole though, it felt incredibly true to the story, while adapting for a new platform.
The writing was spot on. The dialogue felt organic, and I never felt I was getting pulled out of the story through clunky writing. I felt the writing really enhanced the characters, especially the main trio.
There are very few things I’d change. There were a couple times I found Kyle annoying, which was something that never happened in the original story. He was just so obsessed with Kimber, and I was glad when Sam called him out on it. I was also a little confused as to why Sam would call his dad after he and Kyle escape Borrasca, considering that in the previous episode he finds Whitney’s dollhouse on the mountain and finally realizes his dad knew everything the entire time.
I also wish we learned more about Whitney, which is something I had wanted in the original as well. She’s definitely more fleshed out in the podcast than in the original, where I don’t think she has a single line of dialogue, but still not that much. Whitney’s disappearance is the crux of the story, and the driving force behind almost everything Sam does, and I wish there were moments where he reflects on memories he has of her. Then again, everything Whitney related might be intentionally more distant and mysterious, to sort of put it in contrast with Kimber’s disappearance, who we’ve gotten to know so well. Still, I’ve always liked and felt so absolutely horrible for Whitney, so I want to know more about her.
Lastly, I’m just hoping and praying QCode makes a season 2. I know they are a bit infamous for never having a second season, but I’m absolutely dying for an audio version of Part V. It would just work so perfectly, and I’m not ready to say goodbye to Borrasca.
So long story short (too late), I can’t speak highly enough about the podcast, and am so excited for what this means about the future of No Sleep stories on an audio/visual medium. What stories would you like to see adapted as an audio drama? I think Copper Canyon and My Student Submitted the Most Disturbing “Living History” Project I’ve Ever Seen could work really well. The one I’m really hoping for is Third Parent. It’s one of my favorite stories, and I’ve always wanted an adaptation, but I feel some of the content might be to disturbing to have actual visuals for, and could be done well with only audio.
I’ve been trying to fill the void Borrasca has left in me and have not succeeded, so any other suggestions are appreciated!

2022.01.25 18:02 BigFugazed More desirable Main Edition or Artist Edition?

Do you agree with me that the original 1,500 main edition of a print like the Welker NYE train is more desirable than the Artist edition of 100? Lower run sizes are more desirable in general, but I feel the Artist edition is like a second edition and or second printing so I prefer the main edition. Expressobeans price history has a lot of overlap so this opinion probably isn’t unanimous. This question would also apply to Pollock’s Radio City prints.

2022.01.25 18:02 owlprowl98 Things have gone bad to worse

Well, haven't things just gone to shit? My coworkers seem to believe all the shitty rumors have said about me. I fucking glanced at the boss's dog because for whatever reason he ditched it with a coworker and she allows it to sleep in the middle of the floor. Well, making sure I avoid the mutt I glance over and I hear someone mutter do you think it's true what she does? And my other coworkers are acting weird.
I'm sure my neighbor just loves this and is giddy with the thought I might kill myself, that hyena laughing cunt would love that. And I'm sure the frat boys will find this fucking account and laugh it up. Despite me putting no goddamn identifying things in it. How they keep finding these? No fucking clue?
I'm sure I'll make my neighbors wildest dream come true of being homeless that sociopathic psycho deserves to rot in hell, but I'm sure she'll be able to coast on bullshit.
Now before y'all accuse me of being crazy I've posted here before on a separate account. It's been happening for awhile now. I fucking hate animals and that includes my cunt neighbor. Who only started hating me because she knew I was on the spectrum. Dont worry, I'm just mad and frustrated, I'm not a psycho like her I wont lash out. I just feel pissed off. Evil people always get away with bullshit and I hope she gets what's coming to her. If you're reading this, and I know you are you crazy bitch go fuck yourself.

2022.01.25 18:02 AdIcy1121 Don't Look Up might be Leonardo DiCaprio's worst performance

I didn't hate the movie (I like Ariana Grande and Timothee Chalamet) but Leo was not bringing his best. That dumb voice he was doing was not convincing and his big moment where he yells at everybody to understand the situation felt like a parody of his prior (better) performances. While I did not hate the movie, I would be hard pressed to recommend it.
