2021.10.27 01:42 buggle_bunny Discussion/question - do you think being unfit makes it easier to burn more calories?
not here to say whether I know best, just posing a genuine question, because it seemed an interesting idea and it also SEEMS logical when I sit here thinking about it ha.
I was doing some standard chores around the house today, that before gym closures didn't really make my heart rate rise, but today I noticed I was getting puffed, put my heart rate monitor I wear for exercise on, and sure enough I was in the 'exercise' zones and it was measuring my calories burnt.
And I guess it got me thinking that at the moment, I am at my heaviest, i am at my least fit, and once I got passed the feelings of shame that simple tasks around the house actually made me puffed, I realised, that when I did exercise and improved my fitness, I wouldn't have that again.
When I was/am fitter, the only times I really get that elevated heart rate, is when I do dedicated exercise. Whereas at the moment, simply standing up from my chair and walking arond the house elevates. Right now, I could do basic chores, go walk around for a few hours and I would be exerting myself and be in an 'exercise' state (in terms of heart rate) the ENTIRE time.
So it seems that, when we make ourselves fitter, we actually lower that sedentary TDEE? Because we won't burn MORE just by doing the most basic of movements. We also have to push harder at the gym to keep reaching those higher heart rates etc. And as mentioned, the only times I would really get worthwhile exercise, is if I dedicate that time to exercise vs simple movements causing me to be 'exercising' like right now. In the past, doing all the chores I did today, wouldn't have burnt much because it wouldn't have been anything above normal I guess, whereas today for me, I burnt several hundred extra calories just doing those things because I'm not fit?
So I guess, it seems (purely about calories, not obvious health benefits), that it's better to NOT do cardio at least, while trying to lose weight, because by being unfit, you actually burn MORE while doing every day, just existing things?
(I say cardio because obviously weight training, increases muscles, which can raise TDEE but you'd need to properly build muscle for that and can't be in a big deficit really anyway then).
Just seemed an interesting idea, again all other health benefits aside like heart health etc, does it seem logical to anyone else?

I've seen so many people on this sub talk about their amazing ECs, but I'm curious to know which one's your favorite and why? Mine's probably student gov - it's so cliche but in my school it's genuinely such a fun activity.

2021.10.27 01:42 dbddad Car thief stole my car then paired his phone via bluetooth, what can I learn about him?
Hi everyone, my car was stolen last night from my driveway. Huge bummer and huge surprise as I live in a quiet culdesac in a nice part of Palo Alto, CA. GPS tracking and hardworking police departments helped me retrieve the vehicle in less than 12 hours. Upon inspecting it I discovered that the thief had paired his phone to my system by going to the list of paired devices. So here's my question: Is it possible to find more information such as his telephone number or any calls he may have initiated from the vehicle? The car is a 2018 BMW i3. Thanks for your help!

2021.10.27 01:42 birdcage706 Are you contemplating ending your marriage because of your spouse/partner's addiction? Well, I am rooting for you!
It took me a long time to get the guts to end my marriage. I spent A LOT (like, hours every night for months) on this subR, just reading every post and trying to figure out how to get out of the situation in which I was in. (Didn't post back then. Just lurked under various other names.) Every once in awhile I read something that resonated with me and it gave me a little jolt of courage, made me feel less alone.
I'm getting ready for bed now and I wanted to finish my day by saying that I'm rooting for everyone on here who is contemplating ending their marriage bc of their SO's addiction disease.
I wish I would have known that as awful as divorce is (in principle And procedure), living with an addict who has no interest in real recovery is 100x worse. Divorce lasts a season of your life. And then you are on the other side, and it is wonderful. I feel reborn in a way I could not have anticipated. I'm rediscovering my children, my friends, my co-workers, my home ... I don't hate my life anymore. Sure, I'm broke. But that's temporary. And I'm rich in spirit right now.
No one deserves to be abused by an addict.
Life is short, there are no prizes for martyrdom.
I imagine that somewhere out there, are people who were in the shoes I was wearing just 10 months ago, desperate for relief, forgetting that living in the hell that is addiction-family-member is not the only way to live.
I'm rooting for you. I want you to find relief as I have found it. Divorce is survivable. :)
Hang in there!!

2021.10.27 01:41 Carmen_pls Using multiple item transportation types.
So, I've played for ages but very casually, on and off, usually involving a restart in the world. I've never really used vehicles for transportation of items. Played a little bit with some but eventually just made a new world when new features came out.
My question to you folks is.... Is there a nice way to utilize multiple vehicles for transporting goods? I want to incorporate the use of Trains, Trucks, Tractors, Drones and of course belts. I don't want to just use them for the sake of using them though... I want to use them all, but efficiently. What are the best applications/combinations that you have experienced?

2021.10.27 01:41 ClozetSkeleton What jobs should I be looking for to build an IT career?
23 year old graduating in May 2022 with a CIS degree, been in retail for 5 years. Left in September to hopefully get work-related IT experience before graduation. No clear goal in what field but definitely nothing to do with coding. I am shooting for an AZ-900 cert right now because I enjoyed using VMware and maybe I will enjoy a road with Cloud computing. Is there any merit to applying for jobs that say, want physical computer repair like a technician in a repair shop, or should I only be going for help desk/ technical support? Or is any experience, good experience. I am just not sure what entry-level jobs I should specifically be looking for.
I am kind of all over the place on what I want to do in IT, but also feel like I am running out of time to experiment before I'm too old to switch career paths in the field and learn as much as I can. If all the great paying, experience-filled jobs require over 5 years or more in a field, I want to get as much as I can right now, as soon as I can.
I just want to try many things. Technician sounds cool cause I love tinkering with PCs, Cloud computing sounds cool cause VMWare on a big scale is fun and pays well, Networking sounds great because I imagine myself in a server room complaining to myself on why this ain't working, etc.
Anyways, sorry for the rant, got a bit carried away trying to put my thoughts into words.

The man has been getting L after L. In last season, he accidentally triggered a trap that killed two other people, lost two lives in one episode and was the first person to be out of the smp.
In this season, he fell for Lizzie's trap, got exiled twice and is pretty much broke apart from not having a lot of allies.

2021.10.27 01:41 lieinfieldsofgold This day in dead history - 10/26/72 Cincinnati
In the Deadhead Archives app, this came up as the "This day in history" feature.
I haven't listened to a whole lot of 72. It only had the second set on the app for whatever reason. On the archives web site you can find the complete set:
Anyway, the second set opens with a Playing in the Band that clocks in at over 27 minutes. It's really great, Billy in particular is fantastic, he has a lot of nice interplay with Phil and just shines overall. He really demonstrates his mastery of the drum kit here.
It's got a nice long (21 minute) dark star and just quality playing all around. Give it a whirl!
